Axminster Carpets Connect With First Great Western Link

Over 3,000 square metres of high quality carpet, in 80% wool 20% nylon, from Axminster Carpets Ltd, is now installed in 63 first and standard class carriages of First Great Western Link trains as part of the company's £1.3 million refurbishment programme.

The bespoke Wilton design was woven in the special carriage width of 2.35 metres and engineered to meet all the stringent fire smoke and toxicity requirements of Class 1B.

The design was developed in collaboration with Ian Michael of the company D3 and the whole project was timed to an extremely tight deadline to coincide with First Groups upgrade and refurbishment.

This was supported by an advertising campaign which features the new carpet from Axminster on a series of posters to be seen in railway stations along the route with the strap line "Every Kim and Aggie will approve of out new carpets!"
