Retailers throughout the UK are turning towards the manufacturer’s Axfelt underlay as consumers become increasingly aware that products with an environmental focus do not have to compromise on performance.

With increased pressure on manufacturers to reduce carbon footprints, Axminster Carpets has successfully implemented a state-of-the-art facility at the company’s spinning mill in Buckfast, Devon that produces high performance carpet underlay from recycled materials that would otherwise be waste products.

Consideration is achieved without compromising quality with a rubber crumb backed, triple-layer underlay offering exceptional support for carpets, ensuring that good looks never fade and underfoot comfort lasts.

With a TOG rating of 2.2, an acoustic rating of 32dB and classified for luxury domestic and heavy contract use, Axfelt comprises a top layer of 95% wool fibres, that in turn is bonded to a middle layer consisting of 50% wool and 50% other fibres. These two layers are then supported by a 100% recycled rubber crumb backing made from recycled lorry tyres, with the overall construction making it the most perfect combination underlay on the market.

The result is an environmentally focused underlay that combines warmth, luxury, comfort and performance with a high level of sound insulation – perfect for today’s most discerning consumers.
